We offer activities in a wide range of interest areas. To enrol in an activity, you must be a member. Membership covers most course fees, but occasionally a small charge is required to cover materials or an entrance fee.
If there are more people wanting to participate in an activity than there are available places, we will establish a wait list. If a number of members are then on the wait list, we will try to initiate another session. So, it is worthwhile putting your name down.

2025 Enrolment Information
Initial limitation on enrolments
We are now 400+ members strong and we want to make sure we do not have to close down enrolments if all activities are full, as happened previously.
Members:
Please initially enrol in only three activities that are more than three sessions in duration. Any activities that a member convenes or co-convenes are exempt from this count. This will give preference to members contributing to the running of the organisation, in line with the practice of several other U3As.
Further enrolments, to a suggested maximum of six longer-term activities, can be made at a date to be advised on our website, probably early February 2025.
UMAS can be used to limit enrolments but the committee prefers members to follow the guidelines voluntarily. UMAS can also monitor the number of activities in which an individual member is enrolled.
Activities with zero capacity
You will see that some activities are marked at ‘zero capacity.’ In accordance with our Enrolment Policy, all members enrolling in those activities will go on to a wait list. The criteria to be moved from the wait list to the activity include whether the applicant was previously enrolled in that activity, time of application and whether any prerequisites have been met.
- Language activities: Members wishing to join may be asked to undertake an
assessment of their language skills. - Other activities: Some activities have restricted enrolment due to longtime
membership and limited space. If vacancies arise, waitlisted members will be invited
to join the activity based on the criteria in the Enrolment Policy.
